Our mission is to improve the use and sharing of resources to create a stable environment where all life thrives. We do that by helping individuals and organisations reimagine their approach, resulting in increased happiness, productivity and financial stability.
At the heart of Better Century is a community wanting to make a better future through individual or collective action. Individuals and organisations support one another as well as organisational thinking. Information shared helps develop projects and supports challenges.
We generate funds by; connecting people and organisations with suppliers, through the delivery of consultancy services and development of projects.
Our Principles
- We have faith in the shared nature of humanity
There is a sameness in our desire to tackle the climate and ecological crisis, and the most valuable asset in achieving that is us, the people.
- Without our community, we are nothing
Participatory governance and decision-making at the lowest practical level are practiced.
- It is only through open dialogue that we arrive at the truth
Information flow is encouraged and not controlled by any one individual or group.
- We work collaboratively to lower barriers to entry
We are inclusive so everyone can get access to the right information.
- It is each person’s right to be who they are
To make up their minds about things and take responsibility for their behaviour.
- Operate consent-based decision-making
As opposed to voting (the tyranny of the majority) or consensus (the tyranny of the minority).
- We balance needs
Short-term and long-term: the contributions and needs of all our community (the individual and the collective), central and local.
- Regenerative culture
We work to ensure the health and diversity of individuals, communities, institutions, customs, and other life forms.

Our Business Model
By establishing ourselves as a Community Interest Company we live our values. We are obliged to serve our community over the interests of our shareholders and as such are legally bound to distribute 65% of profits to charities and community initiatives.
There are three means by which we generate income:
- We aim to be the trusted site for sustainable living. In the second half of 2020, we will begin to generate money from click-throughs to community referred business sites and by leasing our content and functionality to companies so they can better support their customers in living more sustainably.
- Consultancy services. Our associate consultancy allocates 20% of fees to the running of Better Century.
- Projects. Projects developed by Better Century and its partners will result in the creation of new organisations and investment funds. Better Century will be paid for its support in establishing these projects.
