Civil Society

We design engagement events focused on specific issues, bringing together industry leaders, investors, funders, and/or government decision-makers.

Our events look to share problems whilst collaborating on solutions, helping building meaningful connections. We facilitate discussions that foster the willingness, capacity, and funding necessary to achieve systemic change.

Events are often an invitation to listen to insight and opinion, with sometimes a little Q&A.  We believe that through open discussion you arrive at the truth.  Our events enable that wide participation, creating consensus on the means to tackle systemic challenges quickly.

We are specialists in getting people to engage on a subject, to become part of the solution, and inherently join your network to deliver real change.

Case study

Nature4Climate

Nature4Climate (N4C) is a global coalition of 30 international organizations putting nature at the forefront of climate action.  Its campaigns have brought nature to be a prominent climate solution.  Before our launch, nature accounted for less than 1% of the climate conversation. Today, it’s a mainstream climate solution, pulling in 25% of the conversation.

Better Century started working with N4C at a point where the coalition had primarily been focusing on government commitment to nature-based solutions, but wanted to do more to engage the finance, corporate and tech sectors – all of which are critical organisations to mobilising private sector investment into nature-based solutions.

We were contracted to engage the finance sector, to find out more about emerging investment solutions, and to have an open discussion with leaders in the sector about how we could help scale investment.  After supporting the pilot event, we then sought sponsorship, and went on to deliver four more fully funded round-table events that showcased more than twenty investment solutions in nature.  These events help N4C identify case studies while providing insight to drive their advocacy and communications strategy.

Accelerating engagement with the private sector became a key part of the N4C strategy, and led to this being a major funding source for their presence at London Climate Action Week (LCAW), New York Climate Week (NYCW) and the UNFCCC COPs.  Better Century continues to support the delivery of the Nature Hub at LCAW, and supports in uncovering funding to deliver the remainder of the global climate events.

Alongside this work, Better Century also supports N4C in engaging funders. We have identified potential donors, created a strategy lunch for N4C and continue to support means of engagement to unlock funding.

“For over three years, Better Century has partnered with us to engage the private sector and philanthropic organisations. They helped N4C develop a program of fully sponsored finance sector engagements, successfully showcasing investment solutions in nature-based solutions.  This culminated in the first Nature Hub at London Climate Action Week, which they now continue to run. Better Century also helped us engage philanthropy about our strategic needs. Their efforts have helped accelerate our strategic objectives, edging us closer to achieving our mission of ensuring the deployment of high-integrity nature-based solutions to climate change.”
